NetBackup VMware workloads vs Custom Attribute

Hey guys,

I'm attempting to migrate my environments over to the Workloads/Protection plans, as that's needed for Nutanix, and i'd rather not point users to two different UI's depending on whats needed.

For our VMware backups we use CustomAttributes to define the backup policies a VM might need to be in.  Then we use the intelligent query policy to run each backup at night.  This works well, and really lessens the load on the admin.

However when trying to make the VMware workload and using the Intelligent VM query, it doesn't have Custom Attributes included at all.  I'm on 10.5, so i know its not been added yet.

The manual really only mentions CustomAttributes for excluding disks.

Am i missing something, or has this just been missed?

  • I strongly suggest you create Nutanix workloads but keep all other backups under policies. Workloads are poorly designed and lack basic features, such as edit capabilities.

Does seem that way.  Its frustrating that with Nutanix I'm forced to use workloads.  If Veritas(/Cohesity) want to force us this way, do get the other stuff working too please.

Hopefully someone else will have some insight into what I'm dealing with here, i'd love to get the VMware workload functional

        Hey,

If my memory serves me correctly I did configure nutanix using ordinary policies at some customer. The policy type was big data or so ..

For sure it was on older nbu nonetheless check this one out
