NetBackup Web Services

I'm trying to enable NetBackup Web Services on my AIX NetBackup 7.6.0.2 master server but I don't have the /usr/openv/wmc directory.  I'm following this KB article:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO92131#v84862171

Is NetBackup Web Services a separate install?

  • Hello,

Just looked at the guide, and saw that Instant Recovery isn't supported on AIX. I know that's not what the plugin is about, just thought its odd. Maybe what ever is preventing that is also limiting the plugin to work, and hence it's not included in AIX deployment.

  • Are you sure the Master Server is on 7.6.0.2? That directory is created when you upgrade to 7.6.0.2. Did the upgrade go without any errors?

  • I have verified that our master server is at 7.6.0.2.  The upgrade didn't have any issues.  I went back and looked at the install trace logs and they were clean and there was no mention of a web service getting installed or a /usr/openv/wmc directory getting created.

  • I just ran a upgrade to 7.6 from 7.5.0.5. the wmc dir was created durring the upgrade to 7.6

    Installed SQL Anywhere Version 12.0.1.3873
    Installation completed successfully

    Creating WSL server certificate ...

As you can see durring the install it creates the directories. It extracts nbwmc.tar.gz located in the usr/openv dir. Do you have this file? Also, if you have it, grep the install_trace log, located at /usr/openv/tmp/ for "openv/wmc". I am curious if it ran at all.

You can always extract from /linuxR_x86/anb/SYMCnetbp.rpm the nbwmc.tar.gz and then extract the files from there, but there might be further issues.

  • SymTerry -

You suggest extracting the files manually from /linuxR_x86/anb/SYMCnetbp.rpm.  My master server is AIX.  Is NetBackup web services not supported on AIX?

  • If Instant Recovery is not supported on AIX, the web services is probably neither...

  • I can't quite make out what Riann's pasted up there, but I believe it's a table from the vCenter Plug-in Guide which lists these bullets:

    • Windows
    • Red Hat
    • SUSE
    • Solaris SPARC
    • Solaris x86

...which rules out AIX, I'm afraid.

I would agree that we don't make it very clear.
