/opt/openv/netbackup/db is above threshold

Hello All,

/opt/openv/netbackup/db is above threshold.

Upon checking below files consuming more space. As I checked those files has been backed in catalog backup. Can you please suggest how action need to perform to reduce the threshold

  • You cannot do anything manually to remove or reduce image files.

They need to be kept until expiration date (determined by the retention level in the policy schedule).

    So, your choices are :

Carefully look at retention levels to see if this is in line with business recovery requirements.
Add more space to db partition
Move db/images to other filesystem with more space
Use NBU Host Properties to implement catalog compression
Consider catalog archiving (I do not recommend this as I have seen this going wrong... )

NBU Admin Guide I explains the NBU Image Catalog in detail under 'Parts of the NetBackup catalog' and 'About the NetBackup image database '.

Read through these topics, in particular:
     “Estimating catalog space requirements”
    “Moving the image catalog”

      Thanks for you suggestion Marriane.

However, when running manual cleanup (bpimage -cleaup -allclients), the job running for more than 3 hrs and which is active.

        Image Cleanup performs multiple tasks:
        1. It deletes expired images from NBU catalogs on the master server
        2. It connects to media servers to cleanup/delete expired disk images.

You can check bpdbm log on the master for image cleanup actions and bpdm log on media servers for nbdelete actions.

Depending on the amount of expired images that are getting cleaned up, you may (or may not) see a difference in space on the master server.
