Oracle Tape Backup failed with unimplemented feature

Hello everyone.

I've recently learned to config FT and decided to test my oracle backups with FT. Normal filesystem backup from client is fine and it shows the transport protocol is FC. But when I start an Oracle policy, all of child processes fail with error "unimplemented feature", nothing more. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Master server Netbackup version is 10.2 on Redhat 7.9.

Client version is 10.0.1 on Solaris 11.

Oracle version is 19c.

Any help would be great

  • I have the feeling that it is a license issue.
If you have legacy licensing, check if you have a database license on the master server and if it’s active.

If you use FC to send the backups direct to tapes attached to the client, you need to have an Enterprise Client or Enterprise Server license to the client.

If you use FC transport to send the backups to a media server threw FC and not network, you need an Enterprise Client license installed on the master server. And a Enterprise Server license to the media server.

If your license is per TB, then a restart of netbackup (master, media and client) may help. If not open a case to veritas

  • For FC client transport check the compatibility.
solaris X86-64 does not support FC transport. Only SPARK does.
