Policy Alert

Hi Experts,

We have a master server in 2008 server with Netbackup 7.6. We need to configure email alert for every policy that is successfull/failure/partial 

Pls let me know how can we configure policy email alerts in policy wise. We tried to search it in Ops center but didnot find it we are using opscenter free version and not analytics.

Pls help.

    If you don't want to use Opscenter, this may help:

    However if you do want to use Opscenter look in Manage => Alert Policies and add a report.

    I don't have OpsC handy at the moment so can't double check it.

    Hi Revaroo,

    In ops center policy change report is there means if we make any changes in policies a mail would be triggered. I could find no option for policy alert i.e if policy gets failed/successful/partial in OPS cernter free version.

    Do you really want an email for EVERY successful backup, EVERY failed backup, and EVERY partially successful backup?  Or do you just want an alert for the ones that are not 100% successful?

    Assuming you only want notification of unsuccessful backups, use the OpsCenter Alert:

    • Incomplete Job - An alert is generated when a job of a specified type of the specified policy/client moves to an incomplete state.

    Once you start defining the alert, you will get to a section that will let you choose the specific policies you want to be alerted on.

    Ok thats fine.

    I need this on the email. So would this incomplete policy trigger email?

    I am not using Opscenter analytics. So does this option available in free version?

    Pls let me know the option where i can enable the email alert for the desired policies?

    I don't know if this is available without Analytics.  I have no way to "downgrade" to the free version without uninstalling and reinstalling, so you will have to try this yourself and see if it gives you this option.  If you can see the "Alerts" section, I would assume it would let you send the email, too.  Otherwise, why would Symantec have an "Alerts" section in the software?

    TECH64984 is excellent for configuring email notification without OpsCenter.

    Just ensure that BLAT is installed and configured on the master server.
