Problem with installation of NBU Vault (v6.5)

Hi,

I am moving my NBU6.5 installation from HPUX to RedHat 5.5 (64bit) due to the issues with the Itanium support, I have sucessfully installed everything on one master server but I am having issues with installing the NBU Vault on the other server.

I have installed the base NBU 6.5 for Master Server on the RHEL server and have the licence installed for the master server and for vault but when I go to install the vault addon using the NB_65_UOptions_20070723 software I get the following error

Installing NetBackup Vault

NetBackup Vault is expected to be installed on a master server

NetBackup Vault installation failed

*************************************

The install_options_trace file just gives me the same as above.

Has anyone seen this type of issue before???

    Hi,

    I have just ran a bbps -a and there is no bprd daemon running at all, I have stopped and restarted netbackup but this process still is not shown even through a ps -ef.

    I have just resolved the issue, both servser were on the newtork and the new Linux server was trying to resolve itself using the HPUX servers credentials, once I changed the resolv.conf and the nsswitch.conf to exclude DNS it has installed correctly, should have realised this earlier knowing how sensitive NBU is to networking.

    The reason I completed the previous server iwth out error was that I was using the same network cabling as the HPUX one had as it was in the server room next to me where as I am unable to that with this server as it is our off-site location.

    What do you mean by this "I have sucessfully installed everything on one master server but I am having issues with installing the NBU Vault on the other server."?

     

    What other server are you referring to? Is the one master server the new RHEL box? If so, you're done, you don't need to install vault anywhere else.

    Is bprd running on this master?

    Some of the agents and options are looking for bprd when the installation is started.
