  • if you are trying to restore a client's file onto the media server then the media server would then be considered an alternate client so you need to setup for an alternate client restore.

DOCUMENTATION: Clarification on usage of the No.Restrictions touch file
    http://support.veritas.com/docs/280742

    Details:
    Manual:
VERITAS NetBackup (tm) 6.0 System Administrator's Guide for Windows, Volume 1, pages 523-525

    Modification Type: Correction

    Modification:
The No.Restrictions touch file can be implemented so that the peer name of the requesting client for a restore does not need to match the NetBackup client name setting.

In Chapter 8 of the NetBackup 6.0 System Administrator's Guide for Windows, Volume 1, the manual implies that the No.Restrictions touch file is applicable only to restores made using the command line. However, this touch file has also been known to apply to the Backup, Archive, and Restore client GUI in the same manner.

This file affects the following user directed command line operations:
    bplist
    bprestore

The No.Restrictions touch file is processed by bprd whenever it receives a user-directed browse or restore request. Such a request can be issued not only from the NBU client GUI and bplist/bprestore commands, but also from database extensions such as DB2, Informix, SQL-Server, Oracle, SAP, SQL-Backtrack, Sybase, and Teradata.

  • Hello Taqadus,
Please consider posting the name of the document that you provide links. like this:

STATUS CODE 5 or 25: While attempting a restore of a SQL database, it fails with either a NetBackup Status Code 5 (the restore failed to recover the requested files) or a NetBackup Status Code 25 (cannot connect on socket).
    http://support.veritas.com/docs/288267

Status Code 25: "Cannot connect on socket" occurs during restore
