query AIR replication

Hi All,

Have questions to ask about AIR .

 

1) Do we usually backup catalog to MSDP or Advance disk pool in N5230 ?

 

2) both configure as MSDP , Can i AIR a NetBackup Master (N5230) at production site to NetBackup Master ( windows 2012 R2 ) at DR site ?

 

3) both configure as MSDP , Can i replicate catalog of  NetBackup Master (N5230) at production site to NetBackup Master ( windows 2012 R2 ) at DR site ?

 

4) Only N5230 at production is configure MSDP , Can i replicate catalog of  NetBackup Master (N5230) at production site to NetBackup Master ( windows 2012 R2 ) at DR site ?

    Hi,

     

    AIR is a replication between 2 NetBackup Domains. In your case from production to DR site.

    So a backup made in production site from client XY is replicated and on DR site importet - you will be able to perform a restore from client XY to a client AB on DR site.

    It is based on deduplication. Youll need msdp on both sites.

    The replication of catalog backup makes no sense.

    Best storage for catalog backups are simple disk and tape. A restore from them is much easier .
