Questions about restore Domino database

Hi experts,

I did a "ALL_Lotus_Database" backup job succssfully.
Shall I stop domino server prior to restore the backup image ?
If not stop domino server, I found I can't restore some files, is that normal?

Emm, maybe someone could give me a steps-to-steps to backup/restore domino/Notes databases. (Such as how to configure Domino with logging enable, linear log , etc)
