NetBackup Access Control (NBAC) is what your looking for. You will create users and then use the Authorization Objects pane, that contains the NetBackup objects, to which permissions can be granted. It sounds like you just want Browse/Read permissions only for this user.

Look at Chapter 4 of the Symantec NetBackup 7.5 Security and Encryption Guide for setup of NBAC and assigning permissions.

it looks like you need to impliment the NBAC to get your requirement fulfilled..

you can use auth.conf with the help of the java console but it will only resticts the access to specific component but not the persmission level on it.

so you need to impliment the NBAC to give the read access to specifc users.

you can look into below T/N about NBAC

  • hello,

tell me please, if i install the NBAC on the master and we have an existing client servers, policies, SLP ... is there any impact ??

i'm afraid to apply it,  and this can trouble the existing infraastructure..

    could you help please ?

  • Doesn't affect policies as far as I'm aware, however it does require a cycle of services IIRC when enabling.

  • thanks for replying, may i have more information please about :cycle of services IIRC ?

and, after NBAC installation, thins requiire a master reboot ?

    thanks in advance
