Regarding Media server movement.

As a part of activity our media server is going shutdown and I have to recinfigure the new media server .
Could you please tell me what steps I have to follow so that our enviorment is not effected after this movement.
And what Check Points I have to kept in my mind for this activity planning.
It will be very help full if some one describe me steps to be carrying for this activity.
