Remove a frozen tape from netbackup

Hi Dear Community,

there is a frozen tape. l wanted to delete the frozen tape (000002) from netbackup.

l did the command bpexpdate -m 000002-d 0 -force.

after the command l delete the tape.but the tape in tape library. Also NBU doesn't show the frozen tape.

What do l need to do eject the frozen tape from Tape library?

Br,

  • Hey

Yes - NBU will not physically do it for you...

If you cant remove it - create a new volume pool, call it frozen_tapes and move it there - it will not be used...

Dear quebek Thank you for the response!

I export from tape library (quantum i40).

  • you can use the robtest utility to move the tape from the slot into the cab/map port and get it off the robot.

  • Frozen and suspended tapes might have images associated with them and would still be assigned. Deleting the tape in this situation could cause a catalog inconsistency.

If you no longer need the tape (and associated data) first UNFREEZE the tape and run bpexpdate -m XXXXX -d 0 -force

Once the media is unassigned you should be able to delete it worry free.
