I am trying to restore the backup I took in LTO 7 tape library from LTO 8 tape library device.
However, while the average speed I get for restoration in LTO 7 is 90 MB - 95 MB, it is 63 MB in LTO 8.
Should I consider this normal?
I would say that's ok. There are many factors that go into restore speeds. Things like: How busy is your master server, how busy is your media server, what's the network pipe like between the master server and the client you are restoring to, how busy is the client server that you are trying to restore to? Low system resources on master/media/client side can also impact your restore performance. Just some things to think about in this recovery process.
