Restore of client from production site to DR site

Hello Team

Environment details of production site:

Master server is: Linux
NBU version : 8.0

Environment details of DR site:
Master server OS: Linux
NBU version : 8.0

My customer want to restore data of windows client (source client for restore)configured at production site to another windows client (destination client for restore) configured at DR site. Is this posible, can we perform client restore from production site to DR site?

If yes, what would be the steps. Kindly share.

If you need any more details kindly let me know.

This is exactly what AIR is designed for.

Can we assume that you have already configured SLPs for replication to DR site?

If not - please go through section 6 in NBU Admin Guide I:

  • Hello Team,

Production site master server name is different and DR site master server name is different and source client for restore and destination client for restore is different.

Are you using SLP's that replicate the backups from your main production site/master to your DR site/master?

Assuming there is network connectivity between sites, the simplest way would be to add to the DR client's server list the production master and any production media servers. This way you can perform a direct restore of the production data to the DR client.
One thing to check is if alternate client restores are restricted - have a look at the chapter "Managing client backup and restores" in the Administrator's Guide, Volume 1 for more details on altnames (it's Ch 33 in the 8.0 guide).
Also be aware of firewalls that may block the required traffic bewteen production and DR (basically only PBX-1556 & VNETD-13724 are required).
If this is an ongoing requirement look into the use of SLP's to manage the tranfser of data between the production site and the DR site automatically usaing AIR - doing this will allow you to restore the production data directly from DR servers.
