restore to alternate location

symantec 7.0 master server win 2008

agents: unix and aix and windows

how to restore from master server to a unix server or to an alternate location ( other unix server) ?

Regards

  • Ok so do you know how to do a restore for a window server?

for Server you choose your master

For source you choose a window or unix client server that you backed up (if you want to restore files that were backed up from the master server put in the master)

for Destination put in the server you want to send them too (windows or unix)

Polciy type must match the type of server you have as your source.

  • does not matter that your master is windows and your client is UNIX.

(be aware of trying to restore a window file to a UNIX server - that does not always work due to the type of file.)

    open the BAR

source is what ever server you want

    destination is your UNIX server

policy type is the policy that backed up your source server.

For different location on the UNIX server just put in the path on the screen for restore to different location.

    /home/mydir/myrestorefile

  • source is what ever server you want ,you mean by that the master server ???

  • Just expand on JH's post:

Say you have a backup for a server called ClientA, and you want to restore data to ClientB.

Under Source Client in the BAR GUI (see screenhot in previous post), you will select ClientA.

Under Destination Client, you will select ClientB.

Since ClientA is a Unix Client (and the policy type for it is Standard) select Standard under Policy Type.
