Rman Restore in NetBackup

If you use rman catalog in Prod, I cannot see how restore will work without rman catalog.

Maybe ask on an Oracle forum if this is possible?
Or hopefully one of the Connect members knows Oracle well enough to know...

Why would you not be able to firstly restore rman catalog in DR? 
Surely in a real disaster you need to recover to a state that corresponds with Prod?

Yes, no point in using it if you're not going to make it available. Its like backing up using NetBackup and then saying in a DR situation that you're not going to recover the NetBackup catalog in DR.......

I amnot aware about NETBACKUP. Backup & Restore team responsible  netbackup.

They will ship those tapes from production to DR site.As of now,i know only one  they will share the master server name and installed netbackup client on the database server.

I hope,rman catalog backup is not required to restore the database. Is it right?

Please anyone clear about the below steps at DR SERVER

1, CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE sbt PARMS 'ENV=(NB_ORA_SERV=ura3,NB_ORA_CLIENT=ura5,NB_ORA_POLICY=ura5_AMMN_ora_cold,NB_ORA_SCHED=prod_weekly)';
2, Set DBID in RMAN.
3, Parameter file.
Will it restore automatically from tape. or Do i have prepare pfile manually?
4,Restore control file from tape;
If i want restore particular date control file,What i have to do? Let assume,Every day we have FULL BACKUP.
5,Restore database
6,Restore archivelog
7,Recovery
8,open resetlog

I alreadt posted two times about this.But they said that ask to post netbackup forum.

If you use RMAN Catalog at Prod, you will also need it at DR.

You need to include a procedure to backup the RMAN Catalog as well so that this can be restored before you start with database restores.

Raj - do you have the RMAN recover catalog available at the DR site ? We need to know this in order to help you with the task or we are left guessing.

Without it restore is going to be much more difficult. Let forget about Netbackup right now and talk about the Oracle RMAN side.

Please let assume the below scenario.

If we don't have rman catalog on production environment,the  database backup goes to tape ( netbackup ).

In DR environment,Is it possible to recover the database with those backup  in tape without rman recovery catalog,as per the above scenario.

The below one is our backup script in production envoironment

I have also advised today that the RMAN Catalog should also be backed up to tape.
Restore RMAN Catalog before doing DB restores.

Unfortunately,Recovery catalog database server not in our DR scope.

Is there any other method like.To restore those files from tape to local disk then start recovery.

Is it possible what are files are in the master server from netbackup client.

I asked in oracle forum,but they suggest to post netbackup forum.

Not sure what exactly you asked in Oracle forum.

The question should be:

If RMAN Catalog was used in Prod site, can we restore in DR without RMAN catalog?

(Forget about NetBackup or any other backup application - totally irrelevant when asking above question. )

I strongly suggest that you add Recovery catalog to your DR scope.
