Shadow Copy Component backup problems

has anyone seen the following error during Backup of Shadow Copy Components on Windows 2003?

Warning bpbrm(pid=4772) from client clientname: WRN - can't open object: Shadow Copy Components:\System Service\Event Logs\Event Logs (BEDS 0xE000FEDD: A failure occurred accessing the object list.

there is a technote which suggests applying a msoft patch for VSS, however, this update is included in 2003 SP1 whiich is applied to the server in question

running vssadmin list writers shows one component in the following state
State: Waiting for completion
rebooting the server tonight, hopefully this wll clear it up
7.1.x and Earlier
Backup and Recovery
NetBackup

    2003 shadow copy components have lots of issues, which version of netbackup are you running?

    If it is 5.1 then you need to have MP5 to fix this error.

    using Netbackup v6 with MP2, backups failed last night, since our SAN switches were rebooted, resulting in lots of downed drives in netbackup, after the reboot though, all VSS writers were in a 'stable' state, hopefully the backups will run ok this evening

    has any one else encountered this error:

    :( all my Windows 2003 R2 have this error when backing up Shadow copy components.

    Hi Glenda,
    Could you please confirm on the backup selection for the windows 2003 R2 machines, i hope you aint having the ALL LOCAL DRIVES and SHADOW COMPONETS as well in the backup selection.
