Slower performance with netbackup

 
Hi,
 
A quick run down on the set up.
 
Netbackup 7.1.0.2
 
Netbackup Media server - Windows 2008, fibre attached to an LTO4 two drive tape library.
 
We have recently moved the LTO4 tape library from our Backup Exec 12.5 media server and attached it to our new windows 2008 Netbackup media server - using exactly the same fibre connection.  
 
The new media server is quite a powerful server with a lot more memory, CPU and network bandwidth (teamed at 4Gbps) than the previous backup exec server.  
 
Previously, the backup exec server was backing up a number of clients across the network, one of which was a file server that stored our SQL backup files. 
 
This file server stores about 1.8TB of .bak files.  Backup Exec was able to back up this amount of data in 6 hours so it have an average throughput of about 85 MBps.
 
Netbackup is managing about 22 MBps so this backup job is going to run for a considerably longer.  Even when netbackup is only backing up this server and not multiplexing other servers to the same drive (Backup exec would backup one server at a time) it's maxing out at 22MBps.
 
If backup exec was able achieve this speed then reading the data from the clients disk using netbackup probably isn't the issue.  It's surely got to be a setting on the new media server, possibly the buffering.
 
What's the default buffer settings for Backup Exec 12.5?
 
Any help would be appreciated , as I really don't fancy going back to backup exec.

    ... I think you are more likely to see the issue in the bpbkar log.

    OK ...

    If the issue is on the media server side ... you would likely see bpbkar log showing ...

    waited xxx times for a empty buffer, delayed yyy times.

     

    If the issue is on the client side ... you would likely see bptm log showing ...

    waited xxx times for full buffer, delayed yyy times.

    Forget the xxx value, it is the number of delays that we are interested in, each one is 15ms.
