SRT in the boot server(SRD Location) Windows2012R2/NBU7.6.0.3
I create the SRT in the boot server.
It is a "Standard Edition of 2012 R2 Windows Server" platform.
NetBackup is V7.6.0.3.
Where the specified location of SRD of V7.6.0.3 of NetBackup or will be?
How would the same location as the V7.6.0.1?
How would a different location?
In another case, or will be anywhere?
Reference
In the case of Windows2012R2 / NetBackupV7.6.0.1
SRD: NetBackup_7.6.0.1_Win\Addons\x64\BMRBS\srd_x64.wim
Hi,
You can use the same file as in 7.6.0.1.
7.6.0.3 does not have this as its a patch, and not installtion media like 7.6.0.1
I am not sure why my response did not take.
The files srd.wim and srd_X64.wim found in eh Addons folder are all the same across the same major release levels. The one in 7.6.0.1 is identical to the one in all subsequent releases.
When creating an initial SRT, it will ask for the location of the SRD files. From the Addons folder it will copy both files to the ..\baremetal\server\data folder ahead of creating the SRT. This is a one time operation. If you manually copy both files to the same location ahead of the SRT creation, you will not get the message about SRD files.
As additional information: There is a known problem when updating a Master Server form any level to 7.6.0.1. The srd files are not being automatically updated as part of the process. As such you can have a 7.5 based srd file on a 7.6 Master Server. The 7.5.0.X based SRT use WinPE 2.1 as the base image, which is equivalent to Windows 2008 SP1. For NBU 7.6, the base srd file is WinPE 3.0, which is a Windows 2008 R2 image. This directly affects device driver loads into the SRT. See the Late Breaking News (LBN) for the tech article that describes this and the trivial fix. H9int: see the last line of the previous paragraph.
It is not possible to upgrade the client code in an SRT across major releases. An SRT with 7.5.0.X client code cannot be upgraded to any 7.6 releases. Need to start from scratch.
