Standalone Drive\Media Issues.
Good Day -
I'm having an issue with a stand-alone tape drive recognizing my media for restores. Here's my scenario, as I'm dealing with some OLD applications here: (I realize I'm dealing with an app that is NOT AT ALL supported, but I really need some help here)
I'm dealing with the Veritas NetBackup Datacenter 3.4.1GA application, (I know, I know....yuck), which I've moved away from, but need to be able to restore from old archives. By that I mean I've moved my robot over to my new backup solution (Legato...which I'm not too thrilled with thus far :-)
My Veritas environment had the robot, (a PV136T), attached to it, but now does not. In order to be able to do restores, I've direct connected, via SCSI, a DellPV110T SDLT drive to my Veritas server. The OS hosting my Veritas master server, (NT4 Server SP6), recognizes the S.A. Drive, as I've been able to back up the server to a blank tape using NT Backup.
I was The problem, in Veritas, is that when I launch a restore, it asks for the tape in my "Pending Requests" portion of Device Monitor, even though the tape is mounted in the drive. The drive is in AVR status (as it should be), but the "Ready" status is "No" Is there some command that I need to issue on the tape volume(s) in order for the S.A. drive to recognize them. When I launch the restore, it gives me " Media id 00500S is not in a robotic library; administrative interaction may be required to satisfy a mount request.". Obviously when this archive was done to this volume, it was done via the robot. Any help or suggestions that will help me with this problem would be most appreciated. Thanks.
- Again, check the write/read function outside of NetBackup. Basic troubleshooting, eliminate the most complex part and getr down to the basic OS backup. What does the operating system supply to use for backups to tape?
