step by step process for NDMP bakcup

i dont know how to take NDMP backup.Can you please share me step by step process.

  • For Local NDMP Configuration:

    1) Log on to master server.
    2) Please add Netbackup NDMP licence:
    Steps:
    GO TO Licence Keys
    click on New and add  <key>
    3)Please add Credentials
    To authorize NetBackup access to the NDMP host (from the Administration Console)
    a. On the NetBackup server: under Media and Device Management > Credentials, click NDMP Hosts. Under Actions,select New > NDMP Host.
    b. In the NDMP host name dialog box, enter the name of the NDMP server for NetBackup to back up.
    Note: This NDMP host name is case sensitive. Whenever this host name is used, the name must be identical to the name entered here.

     In the New NDMP Host dialog box, specify the following:

    for ndmp Host name

    click on Use the following credentials for this NDMP Hosts on all media servers
    Provide User name
    Password:

    (Nas team will provide u these details)

    4)Refresh the Netbackup services

    Add NDMP DRIVES:
    5)Once the tape drives are visble please run the device configuration wizard
    Go to on the device NDMP-host and double click on change and select NDMP type of host and add the tape drives.

    6)Try ping and Telnet of hostnames

    7)Once everything is configured and ready Go to policy Wizard Specify the policy name and select the policy type as NDMP

    Select available Policy Storage and Volume pools for policy.
    And add browse the Host Name under Locally Attached Neighbourhood and select NAS host
    and provide the volumes  Which u have received from Nas team.


    8)Create a schedule as requested and run a test backup before performing actual backup.

    1)local2)remote 3)3-way ndmp

    The 1st doc contains a chapter for each manufacturer's device/filer.
    Here you will see that different manufacturers need user credentials to be specified differently, for example, NetApp user must be root, EMC Celerra user must be ndmp, etc....
