Hi, we have the company Renewal licenses in NB7.0.1 ,in sheet from symantec we have 1- table of the licenses renews every year and second table are the licenses my company owns and should be added to the renewal list this year 2- also we have the licenses certificate of the last year’s renewal done for my company, all i want the commands to find out all license we used . Symantic Product Name: Symantec Netbackup Product Version: 7.0.1 Operating System: HP-UX 11iv3 and we have many media servers and over 130 client also we have symantec on windows beside the unix one. i have used the command /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/./admincmd/get_license_key but it gives me license related to features only not for all symantec license and agents and .. etc how can i get accurate data regarding Symantec licenses that we have to be compared with the attached sheet from symantec ?

NetBackup does not count number of licenses used. So, if you have added 1 license key for Standard Client, NBU will allow you to backup any number of clients.

Comparing number used vs amount on license certificate is a manual process.

You can check number of clients in Host Properties - Clients.
If Media servers and/or master are also backed up, don't include them when you add up client names.
Also check for duplicates - if client is backed up with client-name and client-name.fqdn, count only one.
If you have policies for cluster nodes (e.g node1, node2, virt-name), count only 2, not 3.
From cmd: bpplclients -allunique

Find Media servers in Host Properties -> media servers.
from cmd: nbemmcmd -listhosts

If you need to know amount of clients backed up with Database Agent, you first of all need a list of agents used in policies.

bpplclients -allunique -pt <policy_type>

Some valid values for policy_type:
Informix-On-BAR
Lotus-Notes
MS-Exchange-Server
MS-SharePoint
MS-SQL-Server
NDMP
Oracle
Sybase
DB2

For databases and media server you need knowledge of each system as well - OS, processor count (in order to validate tier level).

Hi revaroo i have already tryed Martin command on master server and the o/p is as follow:

OEXP-XXXX-XXXX. ;

..,but this is not what i want i donnot want license for feature .. i want all license installed inall my environment and next post i will copy some licenses that send from symantec to validate it with the recent license updates

Download 7.5 utility which is more improved and gives better picture. (however not 100% accurate but still you'll save alot of MIS work time)

Path:

On UNIX and Linux systems, the directory path to this command is /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/

On Windows systems, the directory path to this command is <install_path>\NetBackup\bin\admincmd\

Syntax:

nbdeployutil.exe --report --traditional

This would generate xls report under \netbackup\var\global\reports

License sheet you got would brief you Qty vs Feature you are entitled. Repot which i'm asking you will give you same output.. It will identify you NetBackup domain , and will categariz them under this features... So you can check if you are under license or are running out it ... (NetBackup Licenses are perpatual,)

Go ahead and execute those reports and check it against your License sheet.

As seen there is SF stack included in renewal.. For thsi i believe you should use veritas Operation Manager . This is amazing tool for SF/VCS, also gives granularity in license management...

You are risking yourself by posting licenses in the forum; please never do that. Also when you post logs, make sure that server names are not exposed. The above act is considered to be security breach / violation.

In my ex-company; One of the backup admin was sacked from project, for posting logs in the forum that exposed the projects's client and it's backup server. Poor thing, that his colleague reported about him to the management.

So you may not know, who is watching your back. Please be extra cautious.

Firstly this utility is different then other NBU processes which runs in background. This does requires manual intervention to execute.

Second, Do a search at given path if it exist you can use that, However would recommend to use latest one which is more improved comparatively to previous one
