Tape silo's and media labelling problem

Hello all.

Brand new HP silo. Loaded magazine full of tapes. Had the robot do an inventory and now NB has a listing of all tapes in the silo. I try to bplabel the taps and and it fails.

The bar code on the tapes as an example say: CA8590. In the media listing that's what they are called as well. But when I try to label them I get the following error:

1/21/2011 1:18:43 PM - granted resource 8584L3
1/21/2011 1:18:43 PM - granted resource HP.ULTRIUM4-SCSI.002
1/21/2011 1:18:47 PM - mounting 8584L3
1/21/2011 1:19:30 PM - mounted; mount time: 00:00:43
1/21/2011 1:19:36 PM - expected media 8584L3; found media CA8584
1/21/2011 1:19:36 PM - end Label; elapsed time: 00:02:44
media manager found wrong tape in drive(93)

In some cases it says it expected media 8590 but found CA8590... ?

It's the CA prefix that's killing it. I'm sure there is a simple fix, but I am at a loss as to how to fix this issue. I have no images on the media so there should be nothing in the db.

Many thanks

Please delete all the new media and set up Media ID Generation like this:

robot number:  barcode length:8  rule: 1:2:3:4:5:6

    then run inventory again

  • Wrobbins, that was it. I deleted everything as you suggested and found the how-to for the ID generation. Worked perfectly.

    Back in the saddle.....
