The Netbackup GUI is not updating restore kilobytes

In my Netbackup environment i have Netbackup installed 7.6.0.1 & netbackup servers operating system is Solaris 11. I am doing one VM(Linux) restore which i felt is stuck earlier as the Kbytes(7680) are not getting increase in GUI console but when i cancell & checked the restore logs it shows me 741 file restore from 756 & restore completed partially but the KBytes(7680)written in the GUI showing the same count. I did 2-3 tries but Kbytes is showing the same in GUI console(KBytes 7680).

I did one test, that i select one 4MB file & start the restore it also shows same KByte but in few mins the restore completed successfully. (the KBytes are same 7680) so as per my understanding the Netbackup GUI is not updating while doing the VM restore as the KBytes is not get increase but the restore is running in background.

Anybody have any suggestion or solution for such kind of GUI setting issue ?

  • I doubt there is another solution.  I haven't heard of this issue myself (I work a lot of GUI issues) and I didn't find anything like it in the engineering tracking system.  I would suggest you go ahead an open a case - sorry.  When you do, go ahead and reference this thread (I'm sure the TSE who picks up the case will hunt me down :)).

  • I haven't heard of anything quite like that.  I suspect that the GUI is reporting the size of the vmdk versus the actual size of the files restored.

There are a couple of GUI fixes in 7.6.0.2 - both I coulnd't find anything exactly like what you are reporting.

I would suggest applying 7.6.0.2 on both the master and media server involved.  Then rerunning the restore.  If that fails to help things,  I would suggest opening a case (normally the bptm/bpdm log will show kbytes written).

  • Thanks deb, but this VM restore is for some perticular folder not whole VM or .vdk file restore. I did 1-2 test file restore instead of folder & that runs fine but when i tried whole folder its not work. Also i observed the destination folder dont have a write permission it may cause a issue. I changed a permission & will try.

Is there anyother solution that anybody have ?
