Two NBU clients on one system.

Is it possible to have two different client versions (6.5.6 & 7.1) on one system talking to two Master servers?

  • You cannot install two versions of the client

If it needs to talk to two master servers (or at least be backed up by two different media servers) then it will need to be on the lower version (6.5.6 in your example) and have both Masters and Media servers in its server / media servers list - which you set as its master is your hoice and only comes into play if you do SQL agent backups or similar or open the BAR GUI on the client itself

    Everything else will work

  • At a time you can have only 1 version of NBU client on the server.

  • As Mark said - Master server must be same version or higher than client.

The trick require a UNIX flavour and do not enable to you to talk to diffrent master server with two diffrent client at the same time.

But during test shot we often move around /usr/openv so you could have a /usr/openv65 or /usr/openv7 installed on the same client. The catalog being /usr/openv is the active client.

Things to note: PBX versions, BPCD is no longer called by xinted in 7.x

  • 6.5.6 Client can 'talk' to 6.5.6 master as well as 7.x master.

Client can have many SERVER entries, but only one MASTER.

1st SERVER entry needs to be swapped if client needs to 'talk' to other Master.

PLEASE take note of the fact that 6.x will be EOSL in a couple of months time...

  • no its not possible on 1 physical server.

but its possible on VM servers. but veritas agent should be on higher side of master server.
