I checked the Maximum size 'Use limit and changed it to 10% of occupied space also I checked Windows Open File Backup setting on the master server to ensure VSS is being used and selected  'Use Microsoft Volume Shadow Service (VSS)'

But it has same issue. Any idea ? Thank you.

  • What does a "vssadmin list providers" say ?'

If you do a "w2koption -backup -snapshotprovidertype  1" do you still get the error

And there is also thease two tech note:

  • Other posts, like this one, suggest trying: w2koption -backup -efi_boot_enabled 1

Also as Nicolai mentioned, look at the bpfis log on the client.

  • C:\Users\tn012713r>vssadmin list providers
vssadmin 1.1 - Volume Shadow Copy Service administrative command-line tool
    (C) Copyright 2001-2005 Microsoft Corp.

Provider name: 'Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0'
       Provider type: System
       Provider Id: {b5946137-7b9f-4925-af80-51abd60b20d5}
       Version: 1.0.0.7

nothing happen after I run that command

    C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin>w2koption -backup -snapshotprovidertype 1

    C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin>w2koption -backup -efi_boot_enabled 1

    ERROR - invalid parameter: -efi_boot_enabled
    ERROR - invalid parameter: 1

  • You never mentioned NBU version and patch level on these clients? Some old version that ďoes not include all the options for w2koption command?
  • Are you attempting to backup System_State: or Shadow_Copy_Components: or All_Local_Drives: - or, hopefully not, any two or more of these directives in any one single policy?
  • What is the output from "vssadmin list writers"

the state for each writer should be "Last error: No error"
