Unable to login to Admin console.

Hi All,

   I am unable to connect to the admin console in the master server. And when tried from Java console, only BAR console opens. I have atached the screenshot of the same, what the error would be ?

  • Tested both forward and reverse hostname lookup, everything is fine.
  • Tried, bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache. No luck anyway.
  • The Client_Port_Window is already set to 0 0.

I am able to login to admin console from media servers, Please help me to fix the problem.

    What does this command on the master server show?

    bpnbat -WhoAmI

    (PS: I am no NBAC expert... just trying to help here...)

    Looking in the right place?

    On my test Windows master, I see:

    C:\Program Files\Veritas\Java>type auth.conf
administrator ADMIN=ALL JBP=ALL
* ADMIN=JBP JBP=ENDUSER+BU+ARC

    Have you checked the contents of:

    Unix:   /usr/openv/java/auth.conf

    Windows:  {install-path}\Java\auth.conf

    ...on the master server?   i.e. do you have an entry for the username that you are attempting to use?

    The screenshot looks like Windows Admin Console (WAC).

    Is this WAC installed on your desktop or are you opening the GUI directly on the Master server?

    Is the hostname that you blanked out indeed the Master hostname?

    What does 'bpclntcmd -self' show on the master?
    Are all services running?
    Check with 'bpps' and 'nbemmcmd -listhosts -verbose'.

    •  Yes it is Windows Admin Console and I am running it directly on the master server.
    •  Yes blanked text is the master hostname.
    •  All services are running and bpps produced the same.
    •  bpclntcmd -self , I got host name and ip , also fqdn of the host.
    •  'nbemmcmd -listhosts -verbose' listed all the media servers and data domains connected with the master.

    As I said, I am able to login to the admin console (not java) via media servers.

    For some the reason the master server is unable to connect to itself.
    Do you have log folders on the master server?

    Logs that may help to identify the problem:
    bpcd
    bprd 
    bpdbm
    admin

    Look in these logs for connection attempt at the time that you tried to open WAC.

    What should I search in which log ? I increased verbose level to 3, created log directories and tried to login. But there are client entries as well.

    bprd and bpdbm will only log anything useful once services have been restarted.

    Look for connection from own IP address that is logged at the same time as opening the console.
    This connection attempt will have a PID in square brackets.
    Follow this PID until you see an error. Usually indicated by <16> or <32>.

    We can't restart the service now as jobs are running .
