  • Please open Handy NBU Links in my signature, then open the link to Documentation for your NBU version. From there, download the NBU Installation Guide for Unix. Look for the Unix Client installation section. You will see that the GUI push install method needs rsh connectivity to the client. If you can rsh as root to the client withou a password, then you will be able to push install fro the GUI. Other push install methods such as ssh, ftp and sftp are also covered in the Installation Guide.
  • You need to specify ssh as push method. All r-services are unsecure and thus not active on modern installation, I expect this is why you are seeing "Connection timed out". No rsh server is listing in the other end.

  • Thamks Marianne and Nicolai for your reply..

RSH has been disabled in my environment recently due to security  issue.. Symentac Netbackup is working fine with other machines but on this particular machine it failing daily..So we try to reinstall and stuck with this error..

  • You can use ssh from cmd to push install. Please see instructions in the manual that I have mentioned above. Not sure why you feel that reinstall will fix the problem? Please start another discussion with details of backup failure. Maybe we can help you. PS: You need to remove existing software before you can reinstall.
