Understanding Perpetual Licensing

Hello,

I am quite new to perpetual licensing model of Netbackup. 

We are going to purchase below license for backing up data of 57TB(57 licenses) 

NETBACKUP PLATFORM BASE COMPLETE ED XPLAT 1 FRONT END TB ONPREMISE STANDARD PERPETUAL LICENSE QTY 51 to 150 CORPORATE
ESSENTIAL 12 MONTHS INITIAL FOR NETBACKUP PLATFORM BASE COMPLETE ED XPLAT 1 FRONT END TB ONPREMISE STANDARD PERPETUAL LICENSE QTY 51 to 150 CORPORATE

Are these licenses one time(since its perpetual) or should they be renewed annually?

Please explain...

    NETBACKUP PLATFORM BASE .... LICENSE is permanent. You buy that once.

    ESSENTIAL 12 MONTHS .... is your maintenance for the 1st year. 

    You need to renew this maintenance annually for ongoing support, updates and upgrades, etc.

    If you do not renew maintenance each year and want to upgrade to a newer version in a couple of years, there is no option to renew expired maintenance. You will need to purchase NBU license again.

        Correct.

        There is no longer an option to renew license once maintenance has expired.
        No more grace period either.
