  • Couldn't write to file /usr/openv/netbackup/.rename.6336 on client Client01, status: 28

The error is quite clear... you need to find out why...

Please share all details about this restore.

Seems you are doing a redirected restore?  And to different location?
Client01 is the host to restore to
backup id srift01_1409651011 exited with status 150:

So, backup for client srift01 is now restored to Client01?

Are normal backups working for Client01?
Restore attempt shows connecting, but not Connected.

Have you created log folders on Client01?
bpcd and tar logs will help to troubleshoot.
Please upload logs as File attachments.

  • Can you share your environment details , sometimes this issue can be seen on Windows 2008 environmnet when the  restore console is not started as an adminsitrator . OR might be a permission issue in creating files on the destination server.

  • Master - Windows server 2008 R2

Source Client- Linux and Destination client- Linux ( redirect restore to different location)

The source client i'm able to take backup without any issues.

  • What NBU version on Master ? What on Client? You didn't provide the information/logs asked in previous posts.

I do see the exact error message in one of the TN but the logs will be helpful.

  • Before you try to restore again, try a small backup of the destination client.

This way we know connectivity is fine and restores should work as well.

Create bpcd log folder on the client before any further tests. Create bpbkar and tar folders as well to troubleshoot backup and restore issues.

Check that forward and reverse name lookup is working between media server and new client and that OS firewall (iptables) is disabled.

Port 1556 must be open between media server and client in both directions.

  • If you want to perform redirected restore, you should add an empty NO.RESTRICTION file in the following path (/usr/openv/netbackup/db/altnames/NO.RESTRICTION)

  • No.Restrictions is not needed for redirected restore initiated from the master.
