Vault picking lists
Please can someone help with this?
Hello again
Netbackup Enterpise 7.0
Windows 2003 Server
Currently we are using Vault to automatically duplicate images from VTL to physical tape. This was originally put in place by a contractor.
I've looked at the Vault admin guide but I’m still not understanding this.
My first question is:
How does Vault establish what tapes are due for coming back onsite?
And
Would it be possible to use SLP to duplicate images to tape but use vault to automatically eject them, and possibly generate reports for the ones that need to come back onsite?
Thanks

Bill is correct re. the time vault will request tapes back.
Re,. the SLP, yes you could do this - and then set the vault profile to skip the duplication and only eject (and hopefully run the catalog backup also).
However, unless you have a reason to do it this way, I would just leave Vault to do the dups also. My reason being, introducing SLPs is another layer of complexity that 'may' not be required.
Troublshooting, maintaing and running a system is easier the less complex the system/ environment is.
