VCS Test

Hi all,
can give me some idea for why the answer  is  A & D ?

An administrator is configuring a new device and receives the following error message: Unable to
determine robot type What are two possible solutions?
(Choose two.)
Response:
A. download a new device_mapping file from the Veritas Support website.
B. ensure the tape drive is closed and ready for use.
C. perform a rescan of the available tape drives.
D. verify compatibility for the library with NetBackup.
E. select the correct device type for the drives.

  • The keywords are 'unable to determine robot type'. Means that it can communicate with the device but doesn't know what it is.

    A) gives you updated definitions for robot types, meaning Netbackup can identify the device.
    D) is just a basic practice. You need to confirm compatibility before you do anything. If the device is not compatible with Netbackup, an updated device_mapping file won't be help.

That being said, I've worked with Netbackup long enough to know their error messages and logs can be exceptionally generic and vague.
