Hi,
I was able to take backup with VM Ware option from Netbackup. But the restore job is failing with error 21. When i ran the instant recover command from below was the output.
C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin>nbrestorevm -vmw -ir_activate -C WIN8-Bit
locker -temp_location temp_location_for_writes
Restore image time = 11/26/16 15:57:05
VM restore request returned with status = 0
Provide more info about your NBU environment.What is the error you are getting?

Also verify below things:-
1)For a restore host that is separate from the NetBackup master server or media server: You must add the restore host to the list of servers that can access the master server
2)The target ESX server for the restore must be at vSphere 5.0 or later
3)The NFS Client service must be enabled on the ESXi host
4)The Services for Network File System (NFS) must be installed on the media server and restore host
5)The Client for NFS service should be started on the restore host
6)The backup host,media server must use IPv4
7)Supports the following storage unit types (disk only):
BasicDisk, AdvancedDisk,Media Server Deduplication Pool (MSDP), PureDisk Deduplication Pool (PDDO),and qualified third-party OpenStorage devices.
8)Does not support a virtual machine that had the disks that were excluded from the backup. The policy Virtual disk selection option must have been set to
include all disks
9)Instant recovery cannot restore a vCloud virtual machine into vCloud.
