VM Ware & Sharepoint

Hi All,

Need briefing on concept  of VMware with NBU.Few things which i am unsure about.

1)What is the role of sharepoint while configuring VMware for NBU.

2)Basic Architectural components required for configuring VMware with NBU.

I am a beginner in VMware,so please share the basic understanding which is required.

Thanks.....

  • Basic understanding of NBU for VMware is best explained in  NetBackup 7.5.0.x for VMware Administrator's Guide  http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5605

The intro section of the manual explains how NBU for VMware works, the requirements, and overview of configuration steps.

VMware with sharepoint start here (in same manual):
About the virtual machine backups that include database data

Then go to this section in the manual:
    Table 5-6 Application Protection options

as well as NetBackup for Microsoft SharePoint Server Administrator's Guide

See Chapter 7: Protecting SharePoint Server data with VMware backups

Please take your time and read through these manuals...
Ask again if something specific is unclear.

  • Do each step.  Trust me it isn't easy but it can be done.  Just got mine to work again.
