VMDK Backups

Guys

i am new to Netbackup and want some info on VMDK backups.

1.How does VMDK backup works in Net backup doest it backup Guest used space or VM allocated space for example.

VM Alloacted storage is 500GB

and VM internal usage(C,D,E) is 300 GB

which size will it backup ?

 

i am from Avamar background and in Avamar its backup only Disk allocated space for VM , as per above scenario it will backup 500 GB, even though VM used space is 300GB.

    If you are using CBT, then it will backup only 300GB.

    and the initial backup ?

     

    CBT only applies on consecutive backups.

    As per this Initially it should process every block of VMDK. but due to insight of VRAY technology to VMDK it ignores whitespace at source.
