VMware 4292 error with CBT

Hello,

Please help with the following scenario, several VMs have a snapshot and when executing a backup you get error 4292: Can not enable change block tracking, virtual machine has snapshots. Please remove virtual machine snapshots and retry.

The question is, if we should delete the snapshot, run the backup with Accelerator and then the user could run snapshot on demand as part of their daily operation? And wouldn't this affect the backups?

Or backups with accelerator do not support a VM having a snapshot?

    Hi rafanto 

    As you have discovered it is not possible to enable CBT when there are existing snapshots. These need to be removed before it can be done (either by NetBackup or other means). 

    Once CBT is enabled, additional (non NetBackup created) snapshots will not affect NetBackup accelerator.
