VMware Backups fails with status 11

Hi,

we are in the process of implementing Netbackup 7 environment and are currently trying to test the VMware backup policy but are getting intermittent failures.

We have a VM Media Server/Backup Host being used to connect to vCenter Server.

We have setup a VMware backup policy with transfer type nbd and sending to tape.

We have installed  EEB in TechNote 124757.

we are using a 10Gb and 25GB VM for testing.

When we run manual full backup, the first attempt usually is successful. however, when we try to run another manual full backup a few minutes after, it fails part way withe error system called failed (11).

 

attached are excerpts from activity monitor logs

other non VMware related jobs we've tested ( filesystem and oracle) have a better success rate.

has anyone expereienced this issue?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the Assistance.

    further investigations have revealed this to be a network related issue. Our networking environment is a bit complex and we think one of the devices between the environments is filtering the packets. We have had successful results in another VMware environment.

    we are running Netbakup 7.0, vShpere 4.0 build 208111, ESX 4.0.0 Build 261974

    some further observations.

    After the backup jobs run (successful or failed), the backup user sessions are not closed in vCenter. They remain idle for 30 minutes.

    Hi,

     

    Only thing i can see in the log is that the second time the backup runs it actually gets to the end, and then fails when trying to thaw the snapshot to remove them. Can you confirm that the job writes data and looks like it should complete and then fails?
