vx_get_fsdata: layout version 10 is not supported

Hi All,

I am trying to create a flash backup using Vxfs snapshot method but recieve error vx_get_fsdata: layout version 10 is not supported

After investigation, I found a documentation stating only version 7 and below is supported but in my environment we use version 10.

 

Kindly advice on how to resolve

    Veritas File System (VxFS) Layout Versions beyond version 7 are not supported with Snapshot Client backups

    You will have to downgrade the file system version. this is a destructive operation according to the tech note.

    Have you considered using Netbackup deduplication and accelerator technology instead ?

    The initail full backup has been running for over 10 days and is not completing due to the small files and size. This has hinder us even though accelerator option is selected to backup to appliance.

    I have also seen the documentation and will need advice on any other snapshot method that can be used

    There is unfortunately nothing that fellow Connect users can do to fix this compatibility issue.

    You will need to get hold of Veritas Product Management via your local Veritas/Symantec office to request this as product enhancement.

    You have to go full blown and not "only" using vxfs snapshot but array based snapshots.

    I got a feed back from symantec BCS that they have contact Product Management as there are other companies also requesting the same solution to limitation.

    Will update once there is a EEB

    Good news

    If this is just a qualification - testing that it still works, it can be accomplished within relative short time, but is new code required - don't hold your breath. The prioritization is hard  in the Netbackup development teams.
