What is the basic difference between optimised duplication and AIR?

Hi Marianne

Ik weet dat ik ben dom in vraag dit maar alstublieft vergeef mij

What is the basic difference between optimised duplication and AIR?

Ik heb een aantal documnets gelezen, maar niet duidelijk.

Please help !!!

  • Optimized duplication : copy of new unique data blocks within a Netbackup Domain

AIR: Copy of new unique data blocks data across Netbackup domains.

  • This is unique data or deduplicated data?

what is this within and across NBU domain means?

  • Say you have SITE A with a master server and 2 disk pools, Optimized duplication is basically copying data from one disk to pool to another using the same master server (NetBackup Domain)

For A.I.R you would have 2 master servers (none clustered), which would be classed as seperate domains, for example Site A (source domain) may have 1 master server domain and Site B (target domain) may also have a master server domain. Both require MSDP, you backup data in Site A MSDP, then A.I.R to Site B (deduplicated data over LAN) into MSDP, this then updates the catalog in Site B and you are able to restore from.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thanks Marianne and Jay and nicolai.
