Windows server 2012 backup.

All:

We are about to do a POC for Windows Server 2012 and our master servers and media servers (All linux) are at NetBackup version 7.5.0.4.

The following are the lines from nbu_7x_scl.

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 - NetBackup Client
OS CPU Architecture OS Bits NetBackup Client NetBackup Bits BMR Client/Boot Server NBAC SAN Client Minimum NetBackup 7.X Level
Windows Server 2012 [1] x86-64 64 Y 64 Y Y 7.5.0.6
Windows Server 2012 R2 [1] x86-64 64 Y 64 7.5.0.6

--------------------------------------------------------

Our requirement is to bring the windows server 2012 as a client into the enviroment where we can run backup and restores.

Recently i heard that we can keep the master server and media servers at 7.5.0.4 and will be able to install the client version 7.5.0.6 on windows server 2012 to achive backups and restores.

Is it true or anybody has done this in your environment.

Any help is appreciated.

THanks.

  • yep , as Nagalla suggested you can proceed with the above plan of implementation N it it is supported..

  • It is true as the others have stated .. but my advice would be to patch everything to 7.5.0.7 to ensure that you have the latest fixes available to all servers and clients - there are a lot of fixes over those earlier versions:

Better still get right up to date with 7.6.0.2 (out any day now) and make the most of all NetBAckup features and fixes

I know what you want will get you by but it is always best to make sure your data is fully protected and the best way of doing that is to be up to date.

Also notice that 7.5.0.7 is the very last NetBackup 7.5.x update so would get you as far as possible with that version.

    Hope this helps

  • Thanks. Will be working on this shortly and will update this thread.
