Yes I have a question...

 

We are on NetBackup 6.5.6 running on Solaris. By looking through my.symantec page and entering our customer ID, I can see all of our licenses and I can see that version 7.0 is listed. So, I downloaded it, and now I'm trying to evaluate an Windows server installation. 

 

My question is, how do I get the License Key? on the licenseing page on this website I can see all of my entitled software and their serial number. When I click on 'Get a License Key' and input my serial number, it says this serial number does not require a key.. yet the installation asks for one. Any help?

  • A serial number is the number you use to download the software.

    A license key is what you enter during the install ( after you have downloaded the software )

    The serial number will either come with an upgrade or purchase letter.  If this information is not available, a serial number it can be procured from:
    Symantec Licensing Portal:  https://licensing.symantec.com/acctmgmt/index.jsp
               or
    You can contact Customer Care directly at : 800.721.3934 or 541.335.7023
                http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/support/assistance_care.jsp

    And they will help you obtain a liscence key / serial number.

  • Follow Get License Key, or Upgrade version option

    Fill up details of notification id, which you must have received, or if you have previous version certificate handy with you, choose, i don't have upgrade notification, There you will have to provide Customer number, SAN and serial number.

    Lets say you have got 6.5 certificate handy, so support portal would validate your info, and would come up with two upgrade notifications 7.0 and 7.5

    This would be one by one.

    Select 7.0 as upgade, and it would show you upgraded license keys

    Follow same for 7.5 (if you want to go for 7.5 - Recommended to evaluate both in UAT before upgrading to Production)
