What's New in NetBackup 10 - Accelerator Support

I want to share with you an exciting new feature in NetBackup 10.  Check out the Conquer Every Cloud event for more detail on all the new features.

Accelerator for NetBackup has been available since NetBackup 7.5 and now brings the capability to Azure and Azure Stack > =2012.

Accelerator is a feature in NetBackup that combines the benefits of the O/S file system change journal, an Accelerator Track Log, deduplication and optimized backups.  After an initial full backup is performed, subsequent backups will check the cloud snapshot(s) and only backup changed blocks.  This not only shortens backup windows, but minimizes costs by reading only changed data from the cloud provider, helping minimize egress/ingress costs.

Accelerator is on by default and supports the following NetBackup storage server types:

1. MSDP
2. MSDP-C
3. Open Storage
4. Cloud Storage

As seen in Figure 1. Protection Plans created in NetBackup 10 can utilize the Accelerator capability.
