Is there report template that produce output of the actual growth of data that have been backed up by certain client?

Hi,

is there report template on Opscenter that can give us report one growth of data that have been backed up by certain client?

if there are no template, can any opscenter expert out there assist me on creating the query?

Any help will be higly appreciated.

Regards,

Aris.

  • Aris56,

There is a report template for this...

Report Templates > Deduplication Reports > Pre vs. Post Deduplication Size

    Example:

Screen Shot 2015-09-17 at 1.54.28 PM.pngYellow Line - Total Protected Size (TB)  -- This could be classified as your trend line

Grey Bar - Total Number of Bytes (TB)

You mostly have the same options to set your time frame, filter options, etc...

Let me know if this helps!

  • Aris,

Why are you not using the query previously provided?

  • Hi Aris,

There is a problem in OpsCenter with the job size report. Its uses byteswritten instead of pressissize. I suspect you're using MSDP/PureDisk/Appliance if you're seeing this behaviour.

  •

or Is there way to run a trend report where you see the growth and where it takes into account the actual data protected instead of the data being backed up?

    Please Advise.

    Cheers.

    Hi Tom,

We have used that template before and get result as below.

    Capture.PNG

i've filtered to only view the Full backup of the server.

but as you can see, only on April shows the right output.

the problem is maybe because we perform the backup with accelerator option turned on so it only captured the amount of data that have been written instead of the actual size of data.

Is there any other template that i could use?

    Please Advise.

    Thanks.

  • Aris56,

Yes, you should be able to utilize the following:

    1) Click on Reports, expand - Backup Reports > Job Activity Reports

    2) Click the check box for Job Size

    3) Click on the edit report button

    4) Set you Relative Time Frame to 30 days, 60 days, or longer, based on your requirement.

    5) Set your 'Time Frame Group by' to 1 'Weeks of Year'

    6) Set your Client Filter to 'Client Name = Master>ClientName'  , click next

    7) Under Modify Display Options screen, set the following:

    • Report On : Client Name
    • Display Unit: TB (for all 3 of them)
    • Ensure the Check Box is selected for Show Trend Line (you can adjust the periods)

       Click Next

This will preview the report, and you can choose to save or click back to modify your options.

    ■ Backup > Planning Activity > Capacity Planning > Historical Size
