Unisntall of Symantec VVR 6.0 on Windows 2008 Enterprise.

Hi,

We have the below details.

OS- Win 2008 R2 Ent.

Disk - One Disk (Disk0).

VVR - VVR 6.0

Now, we want to uninstall the VVR 6 from the server as there is some License issue.

What precuation do we need  before uninstall.

Is there any chances of HDD data loose or something.

Please, help for the same.

Licesne issue- We have wrongly purchased VVR Standered Tier license, but required Enterprise Tier License. we are going for upgrade of the License but as  of now we wants to unintall the software.

    Hi Mrinal,

    If you are going to leave SFW installed then there is nothing that you need to do other than uninstall the VVR option from Programs and Features.  You will need to run the Change option twice, once to remove the option and once to remove the license key.

    If you are going to remove SFW completely from the system, then the data needs to be backed up and restored to non-SFW Dymanic Diskgroups or access to the data will be blocked.

    You can't uninstall JUST VVR as VVR is integrated into SFW so you would need to uninstall SFW.  If you don't want to uninstall SFW, but don't want to use VVR, you can just remove the VVR license.  If you want to remove SFW, then if you have created any Veritas diskgroups, you will not be able to access these diskgroups and the data on them without SFW, but the diskgroups will NOT be removed, but you would be able to access these diskgroups once you reinstalled SFW.

    If you are going to purchase the correct license key, why then unistall?
