App update in nodes on primary and DR Datacenter

Hi there,

i have a customer who develops his own apps. They run the current version on Production in the primary DC and an older version in DR.

Now when they run into an app issue on the primary, they would try to switch to DR only to realize that the DR version is older. Due to operational challenges they are not able to have the apps versions in sync, the DR is not updated as often as the Primary. The DR app always lags.

To avoid future challenges,  when switching to DR, they were asking whether we had a way of keeping app configs/binaries on both DR and Primary in sync automatically.

Is there chance we can solve this problem?

    Yes, there is a way to keep the app on DR  site in sync with Prod and fail or switch the app between thye sites when needed.

     

    To achieve, you need to don the followings:

    1. Patch the OS on Prod and DR server to the same .put eh app in a cVCS servi ce group and make it “:Global” (meaning ther app can be failover not only in ther local cluster nodes but also to the clusters nodes in DR site.
    2. place the app data (binary and configuration files etc) in VVR RDS
