diskgroup is offline, but volumes are mounted

hi,

i have got an interesting one here. currently,

my_DiskGroup     disabled             1379410956.28.host

but all the volumes of this diskgroup are mounted. df is working

vxprint does not work on this diskgroup.

i have tried to "vxprint import my_DiskGroup" again but it does not work.

I don't know how it got to this state. but i suspect the SAN disk might have been lost at some point.

anyone have any idea to make the DG online without umounting the filesystems?

The version of VXVM  is 5.1SP1 btw

Regards,

Ida

  • Hi, Directly an import command will not work as disk group is still imported but disabled. Yes, most likely the storage would have had some temporary loss and that is why configuration changes for dg has been disabled. To solve, you will need to deport and reimport the diskgroup. This will cause an outage to volume and filesystems on volumes. G

    Hi,

Normally you should  umount file system and deport dg, import  dg  again  to solve that.

For non prouction system,  You can try "vxconfigd -k -x cleartempdir"  to see if dg can enable again.

Attention, this only for test purpose and not sure if it can work.

Before do that freeze all service group.
