System recovery 16.0.0.55884
Trying to backup a workstation running Win8.1, I get the following error:
Error EBAB03FA: A postcondition that safeguards the integrity of the program failed unexpectedly. "POSTCONDITION failed, CopyLegacyBootManager::GedDestinationRegion:CopyLegacyBootManager.cpp(190): pRegion.'.
Searched the net and this site and came up empty. Anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

What are you using as the backup destination? Is the problem intermittent?
no it happens every time. destination is an external usb hard drive
Have you tried a different backup destination? I would suggest that to rule out any issues with your current USB drive.
Also, can you provide the following log file:
C:\ProgramData\Veritas\VERITAS SYSTEM RECOVERY\LOGS\Veritas System Recovery.log.txt
