Incremental and Independent Recovery Points

Hi All,

we want to take all users pc full backup with incremental option weekly, we found two options in BESR independent and Incremental. do i need to select first independent option and after that we need to select backup with incremental recovery point weekly to copy only changes. OR do we need to select only incremental recovery point all the time and schdule it if yes it means incremental recovery point will take full backup first time and 2nd time it will take only changes right?

Thanks,

Agha

  • If you want incremental backups, you need to select recovery point set (full+incrementals). You can then choose which days you want the backup to run.

    First backup will always be a full.

  • Thanks a lot.

    Recently i took backup with recovery point set option, BESR took full backup after that i made some changes and run same backup again it took only changes backup. it is working fine :).

    by mistake i deleted that changes last incremental backup file after that i tried to run same backup again, now it is taking full backup again. can you please tell me why? i already have full backup which i ran first time.

    Thanks

  • What exactly did you delete and how did you do it?

    Are you sure it took another full backup? If you look in the backup destination folder, do you see another .v2i file or a .iv2i file?

    v2i = full

    iv2i = incremental

  • I deleted iv2i file from destination folder manually. i can see v2i file it is there. i cancelled that backup because it was taking long time like full backup.

    Thanks,

    Agha
