Not Able To Connect To Server Running Backup Service
Greetings all,
I'm unable to connect to a server that I just installed the Backup Exec System Recovery agent on. The error I recieve when I attempt to connect is:
"This program is unable to connect and communicate with the Backup Exec System Recovery backup service on x.x.x.x."
The server that has BESR 2010 installed doesn't appear to have Windows Firewall running, in fact when I try to launch the firewall I get this message:
"Windows Firewall cannot run because the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service is not running..."
I read somewhere that BESR 2010 uses ports: 137, 138, and 139. Using Telnet on both servers the only port that's open is 139 (goes right to a cursor and doesn't display an error message). The rest come back with the message:
"Telnet x.x.x.x 137 Connecting to x.x.x.x... Could not open connection to the host, on port 137: Connect failed"
Before I go crazy opening ports, should I attempt to open ports 137 & 138 or try something else?
