Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 License Key Error
After a re-install of SSR 2013 R2 my VALID license key is no longer accepted.
I have check my original purchase receit with the license key to ensure it's accurate but I get the following message (Actual License Key has been edited out for obvious reasons)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Info 6C8F1C25: Cannot activate this product using license key XX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXX. The license key is not valid.
Please enter the correct license key.
---Cannot install license.
----Error EC8F17C8: Invalid serial number: XX-XXXXXXXXXXXXX.
(UMI:V-281-429-49558)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm guesing that the web service it is calling to validate the license key is no longer operational.
Any suggestions on how to re-install with a valid license key?
Thank you for your private message.
I tested your license key xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxx on my Windows 10 Pro (Build 10240).
I confirm that the key is valid and actually I could add the license key on System Recovery 2013 R2 console. The install file that I used is System_Recovery_2013R2_11.1.6.55604_Multilingual_Product.zip.
The zip file includes System Recovery 2013 R2 Desktop Edition.
You may install System Recovery 2013 R2 Basic Edition by mistake. The license for basic edition is different from one for the desktop edition.
First, please uninstall System Recovery 2013 R2 and reboot the system.
After then, please perform <Install Steps> below.<Install Steps>
- Click https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/downloads/detail.REL141025.
- Sign up from top right, and open "Base and upgrade installers".
- Download the System_Recovery_2013R2_11.1.6.55604_Multilingual_Product.zip.
- Right-click System_Recovery_2013R2_11.1.6.55604_Multilingual_Product.zip that you downloaded, and press [Unlock].
- Click Browser.exe.
- Install System Recovery 2013 R2.
- Reboot the system.
- Open System Recovery 2013 R2 console.
- Add your license key.
If the issue is not gone, run "winver.exe" and confirm your build for Windows 10 Pro.
In case of me, the version and build are 10.0 (Build 10240). It means the version 1507 from the table in the URL below.<Windows 10 version history>

1507 Threshold 1 N/A 10240
=========================================The version 1507 to 1809 is supported from page 8/9/10 in the URL below.
But if your Windows 10 Pro version is 1903 or 1909, the version is not supported on System Recovery 2013 R2.
Please download the latest System Recovery 21 and buy the license.<System Recovery 2013 R2 Software Compatibility List>
